There is just one month to go before the arrival of GDPR, which applies in full on 25 May 2018.
Companies who are not compliant may face heavy fines. We have held a couple of webinars where we set out some practical steps required to get your share plans ready in time. GDPR is not only relevant to those in the EU, it is also relevant for businesses outside of the EU that have employees in the EU.
Some of the questions we covered on our webinars included:
- What has changed?
- Is consent still needed?
- Which legal basis should you rely on?
- What is a privacy notice and what needs to go in it?
- What do you need to do to your plan rules?
- What practical steps should you be taking now?
Elsewhere, we have been helping many of our clients with drafting share plan specific privacy notices, reviewing more general privacy notices, amending plan rules and updating employee communications. Whether you are headquartered in the EU or further afield, GDPR will bring significant changes and will impact both new and existing data processing – don’t forget about your outstanding award holders or old arrangements!
If you have any questions about this, are interested in our webinars or if we can be of any assistance, please do get in touch.
